Commissioning Process

• • • Initial Design Phase - Initial sketches, client feedback, color choices, composition, etc. will be completed within this phase. Design fee paid.

    • Final Design Phase - Scale drawings of the agreed upon design and color samples are submitted to the client for approval, along with the final pricing estimate and contract.

    • Deposit - Upon Final Design approval, client will submit a deposit to equal 50% of final estimate. No changes to design will be permitted after this point.

    • Delivery and final payment - Artwork will be delivered to client, who will submit final payment.

    • Installation: Clients are responsible for installation. In many cases, Molly can happily install for you for an additional charge.

• Estimates - commissioned work will always be precluded by a formal estimate, including material and labor costs predicted. A signed clause accepting possible changes in final costs, due to unforeseen complications, supply chain prices, etc. is required.

• Payments - commissioned work will require a Design Fee of $20-$100 (non-refundable, fee varies depending on medium and complexity) to cover research and sketches. Then, an Initial Deposit of 50% of the estimated cost must be paid before work begins (non-refundable, will be credited to final payment), and any contracted terms will be signed at this time.

• Pricing - this varies greatly depending on medium and complexity, but these averages are a basic starting point. 

  • Stained Glass: around $250-$500 per square foot

  • Drawing & Painting: around $3-$5 per square inch

  • Printing: around $20-$40 per print, plus screen setup/ block carving fee around $x per square inch

  • Partnerships & Mentorships: 

    • Commissions with Partnership will add instruction fees at an hourly rate. Again, these vary depending on medium, complexity, and number of participants but can usually run between $75-$200 per hour.

    • Mentorships are considered by application only. Contracts and fees are written on a case-by-case basis. Please email for details and application form.
